Why most AI pilots in UAE SMBs stall after month one.

The pattern behind pilots that impress in week one and go quiet by week four.

Almost every SMB we talk to in the UAE has already run an AI pilot. A chatbot, a summarizer, an internal assistant. The demo goes well. Then, a month in, nobody is using it. This is not because the model was weak. It is because the pilot lived outside the workflow the team actually runs every day.

The workflow test

Ask where the pilot sits. If the answer is "a new tab" or "a separate app", it will lose to WhatsApp, email, and the ERP screen the team already has open. Tools that require someone to remember to open them get used once, for the demo, and then forgotten.

What actually survives past week four

Start narrower than feels comfortable

The pilots that turn into permanent systems almost always start on one painful, repeatable workflow, not a company-wide rollout. Prove it on invoice queries, or lease renewals, or tender intake. Then expand once the team trusts it with something small.
